At launch, the focus of Vanguard: Saga of Heroes is on Thestra, an area of Telon that is cursed by an undead menace. You begin your adventure in Thestra, picking from among 19 available races and 15 classes, then customizing the look of your character. Become a goblin bard or Elven rogue, and then walk into the sunlight of the area to greet other players looking for a battle, quest, or just a chat. Over time, other continents become available to explore including Qalia and Kojan.
As the tournament came about I had recently left my raiding guild and joined a guild headed by my good friend in game by the name of Kerwyn. He was rebuilding Bladesworn so I wanted to help the guild out by putting a best of the best winner into it.
There were a fair amount of bloodmages and a few who had gear that was considerably better then mine but luckily Vanguard was a game of more skill then it was gear. After the dust settled and I made it through the preliminary rounds on to the semifinals and finally the last match it had come down to me and another bloodmage by the name of furgie who was in the predominant raiding guild on the server. So they had all the very best gear as well as potions and clickies to help them win. However aain the game was more about skill then gear and after the dust settled I had come out the winner of the tournament without the use of any potions or clickies. I used pure skill and won the tournament legit.
We went out and bought it. Installed ,made our characters etc. Then began playing and had many issues with quests not being complete...meaning the developers never finished them.. Had so many problems with the game that my husband and I just threw out the software and deleted our accounts...

At launch the game was awful I went back a few months ago and it was actually fun. I just got lonely with there being very little people playing it
Yike from the worst launch ever to an ok game. It still needs a lot of work, but it is a fun game.

Game was just to different and poorly managed.
Huge disappointment. It took 8 years for them to put out this pile of garbage.
If anyone(SOE) gave this game a chance, and really sank some development cash(SOE) into VG, it may be only as buggy as EQ2. - - -Still a superb game world(thanks to the late Keith Parkinson).

The potential it had *Tisk* It's been a while, and they are trying to pull people back... I want to try it again here soon, but for right now I must say that last I tried it was is mager need of an extermanator
I really enjoy the features of this game. It seems to bring so many interesting things to the table. Too bad the launch gave it such bad press and it never recovered. Very enjoyable game for me.

After Sony took over this game it became what it was meant to be. Awesome game!
Huge world and huge potential struck down by a rocky release. I rarely play but I still do from time to time. It's unreconizably improved from release but still, somethings missing.
There might be a good game in there, but it's nearly impossible to find.
Last played in 2007.
Such huge potential... Such a horrid launch that it will never recover. Let this be a lesson to you MMO developers and publishers!!!
