Q. Do your quiz results on GamerDNA reflect your personality, and if not, what did it get wrong? (Answer!)
A. For the most part, although I'm a little more laid back than they reflect
Q. Are you interested in working within the game industry? (Answer!)
A. I've always been interested in working within the gaming industry. I'd love to get involved with concept design or something in that area.
Q. If you could bring any book, movie or comic to life in a game, which would you choose? (Answer!)
A. I always thought a GI JOE MMORPG would be amazing. You could have tons of pvp obviously as well as a great story to base it off of.
Q. What music do you like to play games to? (Answer!)
A. This answer changes with what I'm doing in game. If it's pvp I love some hard metal to get the heart pumping. Aside from that I like to go old school and pop in some classical when I'm farming or grinding makes it very calm and soothing helps you get into a pattern which is good for that kind of reptative play.
Q. Beside GamerDNA, what are your favorite websites? (Answer!)
A. Youtube for sure I can waste hours of work time watching videos. Aside from that I also enjoy the ESPN website since I'm a total sports junkie I can pretty much read up on any useless stat there.
Q. What do your characters and avatars usually look like? (Answer!)
A. I don't have a set look for any characters. The only similarity I can really say is that whatever is most popular in that game I will go with the exact opposite.
Q. What are your most memorable achievements in a game? (Answer!)
A. Our first Relic raid in DAOC was a big moment for me. Up until that time in any game I had never coordinated with more than 20-30 people and we had over 150 for that raid. I think the formation of the X-team in DAOC was special as well. We were a specialized spec group that was one of the first of it's kind, we made history on our server taking on 3-5 times our numbers and winning on a regular basis. In SWG is was the building of MoS VEA and the infamous Beaver Den cantina which became one of the most popular spots on the server and still stands today. In WoW it was making HWL which at the time only 3-4 people had done over all servers.
Q. What are your thoughts on player-made mods/addons for games? (Answer!)
A. I think it's great as long as they don't play the game for the player. In wow it was a great feature because nobody used the exact same thing and it allowed for complete custimization of your UI. Sadly I think wow gave too much control over this and average players became great because they only had to mash buttons and let mods do the rest. When BC was released and tons of the addons were broken a lot of so called "Elite" became real mediocore.
Q. What is the most overlooked or misunderstood game? (Answer!)
A. Too many to list and all people will have a different game.
Q. What are the proper uses of tank guns and bubblegum? (Answer!)
A. Nothing greater than blowing your enemy to tiny pieces whilst having a minty fresh mouth.
Q. What sort of tools (calculators, builders, spreadsheets, etc.) do you use to plan your characters? (Answer!)
A. I mostly stick to websites and online info but I generally keep a word file or spreadsheet around for calculating the countless math equations that come in MMO'S. It's either how much agility gives you crit % in wow or how much block value negates damage in swg.
Q. Have you ever had a romantic encounter with someone you met in a game? (Answer!)
A. On more than one occasion. I've always felt you should share time with the people who share the same interest as you. What better way to meet someone with similar interest while playing a game you both love. It's a great ice breaker and lets you get to know people in a different light than how you might see them as you would normally.
Q. If you made your own game, what would it be like? (Answer!)
A. I don't have enough space to add everything I'd want to include. My game would focus more on pvp than pve but it would be around a 60/40 split. To truly further your character you would need to excel at both not just one or the other. I would def make sure player cities and a strong player economy would make it into the game early on. Aside from that the players actions in game would control the world around them. No server would be like the other, of course there would be controls in place to keep one side from dominating the other. I would also integrate more in touch with today's society with a fully functional website that allowed you to check player auctions/vendors from the website without logging into game. As well check all character stats guild rankings, guild control, pvp rankings from the website. Then I would take it all mobile and make any of this info available on mobile devices so players would never be out of reach of there game.
Q. Why do you join guilds or clans? (Answer!)
A. Even though I am a loner at times, nobody plays online games to play alone. It's fun having a guild that you can count on for companionship and having people you can trust in game.
Q. In real life, are you male or female? (Answer!)
Q. When do you play, including timezone? (Answer!)
A. My play time is erratic at best. I'm Central time zone but I can be on at noon or 4 am it really depends on work/school and if I feel like sleeping that night.
Q. If you could cancel any online game, which would it be? (Answer!)
Q. What do you love or hate about PVP? (Answer!)
A. I love the adrenaline rush and the excitement. I hate the kids who can't take it when they lose and I really DETEST the people who cheat to win and then claim it as skill.
Q. What are your favorite tabletop (RPG, board, miniatures, etc.) games? (Answer!)
Q. How do you feel about selling virtual items for real money? (Do NOT advertise RMT services!) (Answer!)
A. It's fine with me. Some games just require way too much time to be competitive and some people want to keep up with the kids that play 15 hours a day I don't see a problem with someone spending money to keep up with the curve.
Q. If you could meet any game developer, who would it be? (Answer!)
A. Raph Koster without a doubt
Q. What question would you add to the Attitudes system? (Answer!)
A. How do you feel about exploiting and cheating in games.
Q. When you are not playing games, what do you do for fun? (Answer!)
A. I'm generally a sports junkie I'll watch any game that's on TV. If nothing is on that is entertaining I generally mosey on over to the bar for a few drinks with friends.
Q. What is your first computer or video gaming memory? (Answer!)
A. Super Mario Brothers FTW
A. Yes, and I have a microphone
Q. Where did you get your gaming names from? (Answer!)
Q. What is the most memorable flamewar you can remember? (Answer!)
A. Mesk vs the entire Imperial Alliance on Bloodfin. He never made sense and constantly got owned on the forums but he kept the smack talk flowing living in his own delusional world.
Q. What are the specs on your gaming rig? (Answer!)
A. Not as good as I'd like
Q. How do you feel about playing characters of the opposite sex? (Answer!)
A. Never played a character of the opposite sex full time. Played on a few of my girlfriends characters and had a few bot characters that were female but I stick to being a guy for mains. Just feels odd to me.
Q. What sort of players annoy you the most? (Answer!)
A. Lazy players who won't put effort into things for themselves. And leeches aka players who just tag along and soak up your loot/pvp kills etc but really don't care one way or the other and do little to nothing to help you achieve whatever it is your trying to accomplish.
Q. Do you feel relationships within games are meaningful? (Answer!)
A. I feel they are at all levels. A relationship has meaning if the person behind the keyboard feels the emotions towards another player friend, foe, romantic interest. I've seen keyboard thrown across the room in anger during pvp, and I've seen people sulk for months after a relationship broke up in a game. While some people will argue you can't have a relationship without face to face contact I would agree to an extent at some point there has to be physical contact, but that doesn't mean you can't be emotionaly connected through the game. And like it or not if your emotionaly connected that relationship has meaning maybe not as much as a face to face relationship but it still has meaning.
Q. Have you ever had a memorable real-life meeting with other gamers? (Answer!)
A. Too many to count. Some of my wildest stories are from get togethers from certain games.
Q. Other than your console or PC, what is the piece of hardware you can't live without? (Answer!)
A. TV remote without a doubt LOL
A. None that are too fancy other than a few I used to use in wow. I'd love for a game to develop in game controls for ventrilo/Team Speak.
Q. What experience do you have beta-testing games? (Answer!)
A. Lots! While I've done primarily mmo beta testing. I'd say the most memorable was wow beta, tons of events and a lot of fun. LOTR beta wasn't too shabby either.
Q. How many hours a week do you play? (Answer!)
Q. What is a feature you would like added to GamerDNA? (Answer!)
A. I'd like to see a bit better gaming history and possibly a character profile for certain games.
Q. What are your thoughts on roleplaying in games? (Answer!)
A. I've never been to huge on roleplaying but I have no problem with it being in game. I think it helps some people get into the game more and help immerse yourself into the history and lore of the game.
