I've been playing games for years - single player since 1995 and multi player since 1997. I get sick of games very quickly, often quitting and moving on to something else after just a couple of months. As such, I have played vast amounts of games, as shown on this page.

Games (Liked and Anticipated)
 PREV 5 | 1 - 5 / 48 | NEXT 5  | VIEW ALL
8BitMUSH

"When games and capitalism collide. 8Bit has a lot of potential, but the sysops and most of the players are psycho. I heard that the owner once launched a raid on rival MUSH named M*U*S*H, which I also used to play."

Aardwolf MUD

"A simple but fun hack 'n' slash MUD."

Characters:

Auguste, — A level 5X single-class troll warrior.

Adventure Quest (C64)

"A very underrated game. Being set in medieval times doesn't automatically make a game an MMORPG, so stop comparing Adventure Quest to World of Warcraft. Adventure Quest offers Final Fantasy-style combat and does a great job."

Battlezone 2

"Absolutely brilliant combination of RTS and FPS."

BZFlag

"Great FPS in the spirit of Battlezone."

Castle Infinity

"An amazingly simple platform MMO with instanced dungeons, very much like a 90's MapleStory."

Chron-X

"A great online collectible card game. The new owners claim to be developing a new browser-based client for the game which sounds quite promising."

Counterstrike (PC)

"Believe it or not, my CS of choice is Condition Zero. Why? Because it's so unpopular. There are just enough players to have a fun match without being annoyed by grievers."

Creatures: Docking Station

"One of the many sequels to the acclaimed artificial life simulator, Creatures. Between the whole series, I've easily spent 2000 hours taking care of Norns, Ettins and Grendels."

Diablo (PC)

"Great game, much better than its sequel. I left after being perma-muted by Blizzard, for which they refused to provide a reason."

Characters:

aeSentinel, — Level 50 sorcerer, maxed stats, all spells learned.

Diablo II (PC)

"Eventually gave up because of all the "hackers" using scripts to buff up their characters beyond fair gameplay."

Dofus (PC)

"An amazing combination of RPG and turn-based strategy, complete with a brilliant soundtrack."

Server: Rosal

Characters:

Cadaveric, — Level 10 sacrier.

Doom

"When I play, I usually do it through the Skulltag source port."

Drift City

"Really fun racing MMO with practically no grind."

Characters:

Auguste, — Level 20-something.

Dune 2000

"Along with StarCraft, Dune 2000 is without a doubt one of the best RTS games ever made."

Dungeon Runners (PC)

"Screw Hellgate. _This_ is the true spiritual successor to Diablo. Carnage, bloodshed and fancy weapons all the way."

Characters:

Auguste, — Level 17 Ranger

Eternal Lands

"Eternal Lands takes some of the best features of Runescape, adds a client and textured graphics and takes away the whinny little kids."

Eve Online (PC)

"Excellent space opera with amazing graphics and music."

Server: Tranquility

Fury (PC)

"Although initially great during and shortly after the beta, the game was quickly destroyed because of the developers ignoring the community's recommendations. The game slowly declined until Auran's gaming devision went bankrupt."

Characters:

Auguste Sentinel, — Defiler/Champion tank.

Jumpgate (PC)

"The first space flight sim MMO I've seen with accurate physics."

Characters:

Auguste, —

LambdaMOO

"One of the most diverse and manipulable MU*s I've ever played. It regularly has 100-200 people online at a time (although many idle) and has a powerful built-in programming language that allows you to code just about anything."

Characters:

Auguste, — A young, slender man, no more than 18 years of age, Auguste has fine black hair and a goatee on his chin. He wears long white trousers, but no shirt.

Legend of the Green Dragon

"Great adaption of Seth Able's BBS classic, Legend of the Red Dragon."

Server: LotGD.net

M*U*S*H

"Not a bad MUSH, but it has nothing on 8BitMUSH or LambdaMOO."

Mabinogi (PC)

"Yet another great game from Nexon. Looks like it's gonna be epic."

MapleStory (PC)

"MapleStory has a lot of potential, but the insane amount of grinding required is rediculous."

Characters:

BatchScript, — Level 1X Rogue.

MechScape

"Jagex's rumoured up-and-coming MMORPG. Next to no details have been revealed so far, but judging by the alleged concept art, it has a lot of potential."

Meridian 59

"One of the best games I've ever played. The community is dedicated to the game, and extremely helpful. One of the best communities I've ever seen."

Server: 102

Characters:

Auguste Sentinel, — Planned WC6/K6/6/F4.

NetStorm

"Possibly my all time favorite RTS. It takes a lot of strategy and quick thinking to do really well."

Neverwinter Nights (PC) (PC)

"One of my favorite RPGs as a kid. I loved it so much I finished the demo at least once with every race and class."

Characters:

Auguste Sentinel, — Halfing Rogue 20/Assassin 20.

Meat, — Human Monk 25/Fighter 15.

PMOG

"PMOG is the internet revolution. I haven't had this much fun surfing the web since I first got the internet so many years ago."

Characters:

auguste, — Level 1 Pathmaker.

Progress Quest

"Perhaps the pinnacle of efficiency and user-friendliness in MMORPGs. Progress Quest is so easy to get into that there isn't even a learning curve."

Characters:

aeSentinel, — Level 49 Land Squid Fighter/Organist of the realm Oobag.

Quake 3 Arena (PC)

"The game that first introduced me to the Quake series. Quake III is close to deathmatch perfection."

Runescape (PC)

Server: 110

Soldat

"A great hybrid of Worms and Liero. Lots of action, but lots of lag."

Space Cowboy Online

"An absolutely brilliant FPS/Flight sim combination, but the game shut down. Turns out the developers sold the game to another company but kept the game running, which breached the contract. Way to trash a good game."

Characters:

aeSentinel, — A level 20-something I-Gear. I quickly got sick of the I-Gear, however, and so I created aeShaman to use as my main instead.

aeShaman, — Level 40-something A-Gear. Or at least, it was until the game was shut down.

StarCraft (PC)

"Without a doubt the most balanced and competitive RTS ever made."

Tibia

"Possibly my favorite MMORPG of all time. Been playing on and off for years."

Server: Fortera

Characters:

Auguste Sentinel, — Level 25 Master Sorcerer.

Toadwater

"A great, small game similar to Harvest Moon. Great gameplay and a great community."

Tremulous

"An incredible combination of FPS and RTS, similar to the Quake II MOD, Gloom."

Server: Dretch*Storm

Ultima Online (PC)

"Played on UOGamers custom shard for a couple of months before I got tired of the chaos. Player killers often gank rather than fight fairly, and a few will happily grieve any newbies they see."

Server: UOGamers: Hybrid

WarCraft III: Reign of Chaos (PC-MAC)

"I also own Frozen Throne. Amazing RTS, but has nothing on StarCraft."

Warzone 2100

"Another great RTS game, but didn't hold my interest for particularly long."

Well of Souls

"Perhaps one of the MMOs I spent the longest period playing. I remember getting up early to play it on the school holidays, much like Wyvern."

Characters:

Bananaphone, — Level 43 Sword-User.

Wulfram

"Great combination of FPS and RTS, lots of strategy."

Wurm Online

"A simply amazing game - the whole world is deformable and players are capable of creating just about anything from cities, forests, farms and mines to weapons, tools and roads."

Server: Home

Guild: Jenn-Kellon

Wyvern

"I remember playing this game years ago. It was a great MUD, but sadly died out over a period of several years. It was one of my first MMOs."

Characters:

Black, — A pixie. Can't remember the level.

Zombie Panic! Source

"A brilliant survival horror mod for the Source engine."

Q. What is your first computer or video gaming memory? (Answer!)
A. Playing the original Commander Keen trilogy. Those were the days.

Q. In real life, are you male or female? (Answer!)
A. Male

Q. How many hours a week do you play? (Answer!)
A. 10-20

Q. Ninjas or pirates? (Answer!)
A. Ninja

Q. Where did you get your gaming names from? (Answer!)
A. I make mine up myself, and try to keep a standard between games. What started as 'Sentinel' was changed to 'East Sentinel', then to 'eaSentinel', then to 'aeSentinel', and now to 'Auguste' or 'Auguste Sentinel', depending on whether the game I'm playing is an FPS or an RPG.

Q. How do you feel about playing characters of the opposite sex? (Answer!)
A. I try to avoid it in games where you make your own character, such as MMORPGs, but in other (especially older) games where you have to choose a premade character, such as Cool Boarders 2 on PSX, I'll choose whichever character works best for me, no matter the sex (in this case it was Cindy).

Q. How do you feel about selling virtual items for real money? (Do NOT advertise RMT services!) (Answer!)
A. It doesn't particularly bother me. Sometimes I'm willing to shell out some real-life cash for something I'm too lazy to earn in-game and I don't frown upon others doing the same, however, I do frown upon people that share and sell their accounts to people outside of their real-life family.

Q. Why do you join guilds or clans? (Answer!)
A. Usually I do it just to socialise, swap tactics and techniques and have something to do when I'm not out at the killing fields. I rarely join guilds or clans specifically for competitive gameplay in MMORPGs, but games like Counter-Strike and Fury where competition is a large part of the game, this changes.

Q. What do you love or hate about PVP? (Answer!)
A. The things I love most about PVP is the adrenaline rush you get when you try to dodge incoming attacks and the way it brings a clan/guild together. Good PVP can't exist without teamwork, and I believe that's why so many people frown upon it.</p><p >There isn't anything I universally hate about PVP, but in games such as Tibia, where the death penalty is very large and it's easy to earn a bad reputation, it's really hard to find a good reason to kill somebody without being able to justify it to his/her friends later on.

Q. Do you feel relationships within games are meaningful? (Answer!)
A. Love? Maybe. Friendships? Without a doubt.

Q. When do you play, including timezone? (Answer!)
A. Usually from 3-6pm. Timezone is GMT+10

Q. What is the most memorable flamewar you can remember? (Answer!)
A. The week I spent trying to convince moderators of a forum that when I was posting links to programming tutorials, I wasn't encouraging members to hack the website. I ended up leaving.

Q. If you could meet any game developer, who would it be? (Answer!)
A. Probably the CipSoft staff, creators of the MMORPG Tibia. It's most likely my favorite game, even if I'm never extremely active on it.

Q. What do your characters and avatars usually look like? (Answer!)
A. Where possible, they represent myself to some extent. In games where you can't choose your appearance, my characters and avatars look like whatever I think the best class/character is for my play style, even if it's a woman.

Q. What is the most overlooked or misunderstood game? (Answer!)
A. I would have answered just Tibia, but after buying Fury and a Meridian 59 subscription, I have to say all three equally.</p><p >Tibia is widely regarded as a kid's game with poor graphics and no sound, when in fact, I'd argue that it's very complex and has one of the best PVP systems I've ever seen. I could praise Tibia for hours, but I've got a limit to the amount of characters I can write.</p><p >Fury got insanely bad reviews - Gamespot even gave it an abysmal 4.5/10. Anybody who writes a poor Fury review doesn't know what they're talking about. Fury is a PVP game. People buy it expecting to kill monsters, gain levels, and get high-quality spells that do two billion damage in one hit. The box clearly says it's exclusively a PVP game, not a WoW clone.</p><p >Meridian 59 is unbelievably overlooked. The graphics are dated, but Meridian paved the way for most current MMOs. The community is very dedicated and friendly, and the game boasts in-game email, forums, guilds and factions. Simply amazing.

Q. Do your quiz results on GamerDNA reflect your personality, and if not, what did it get wrong? (Answer!)
A. I feel Bartle test was quite accurate. It correctly shows my personality and tastes in gaming.

Q. Beside GamerDNA, what are your favorite websites? (Answer!)
A. Tibia's official website, the Skulltag forums, Xfire, Slashdot, Google Groups and, of course, my own website, #c0ffee and code.

Q. What sort of players annoy you the most? (Answer!)
A. The pre-pubescent teenagers that populate games like World of Warcraft, Runescape and Counter-Strike. Some people like to be able to play a game without being called a 'noob' every time they level up in a skill or hearing a high-pitched voice scream &quot;Hacker!&quot; over VoIP every time they get a headshot.</p><p >Seriously, I have quit more games because of six-year-olds claiming they can kick my ass in real life if I'm willing to buy them a plane ticket than any other reason.

Q. What are the specs on your gaming rig? (Answer!)
A. CPU: Pentium 4, 3.20GHz<br>RAM: 1.5GB<br>Hard Drive: 80GB internal, 160GB external<br>Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200, 128MB<br>Operating System: Windows XP Pro SP2</p><p >I don't believe in buying the latest and greatest game just because all the stupid kids are playing it. I prefer older, more mature games with good communities, so I don't need good specs, although my computer's have undeniably improved over the past few months. My reason for this is wanting more speed, not to be able to play Bioshock.

Q. What are your most memorable achievements in a game? (Answer!)
A. Completely decimating three of my friends, all of whom are quite skilled at FPS', in a Doom deathmatch (via ZDaemon) at a LAN. They claim I cheated and that Doom sucks.</p><p >I repeated this again in the Quake III mod, Tremulous. Now they don't trust me when I tell them about a new game.

Q. What are your thoughts on player-made mods/addons for games? (Answer!)
A. Absolutely love them. Player-made WADs (maps, weapons, skins, etc for those who don't play Doom) is what has kept Doom alive all these years. It's also arguably a strong source of of inspiration for id Software, seeing as all their FPS' engines are released as open-source after several years.

Q. What sort of tools (calculators, builders, spreadsheets, etc.) do you use to plan your characters? (Answer!)
A. Usually just a bit of advice from players, or fan websites for information on starting stats and classes, but that's about it.

Q. If you made your own game, what would it be like? (Answer!)
A. I wouldn't make my own game, I'd buy out Tibia, Meridian 59, Ultima Online and Space Cowboy Online and hire a crew of staff to continue development while I guide them. The reason for this is to ensure these great games continue to survive, continue to be patched, continue to have new content and most importantly, continue to be played and loved.

Q. What are your favorite tabletop (RPG, board, miniatures, etc.) games? (Answer!)
A. Advanced Dungeons &amp; Dragons and Warhammer: 40,000 are both great tabletop games. The amount of strategy that goes into both is amazing.

Q. What are your thoughts on roleplaying in games? (Answer!)
A. It depends on the game. In most older, traditional MMORPGs such as Tibia, Meridian 59 and RuneScape, roleplaying barely exists at all, as it doesn't match the environment of the game.</p><p >But in other, more immersive games like World of Warcraft, Lord of the Rings Online and even Ultima Online, roleplaying is much easier, as it's easy to become fully immersed in those worlds.
